Female driving instructors

Every AA driving instructor completes the same driving instructor training, regardless of gender. 

When you choose The AA, you can expect a professional, patient and supportive instructor. They'll guide you through every stage of learning to drive at a pace that suits you. The aim is to help you become a safe, capable driver and prepare you for your driving test.

Some people may choose a female driving instructor out of preference, or there may be other considerations:

• Feeling comfortable – You'll be spending time with your driving instructor every week, so it's important to feel comfortable with the person teaching you. AA driving instructors are trained to be professional, patient and supportive, helping you build your driving skills and confidence at a pace that suits you.

• Previous experience – Some learners may prefer a female instructor because of a previous experience or simply because it helps them feel more comfortable while learning. If you feel your instructor isn't the right fit for any reason, we can help you switch to another instructor. If your new instructor charges a higher hourly rate or additional supplements, you'll only pay the difference.

• Religious or cultural reasons – Some learners choose a female instructor because of their religious or cultural beliefs. For example, some women may prefer not to spend time alone with a man who isn't a relative. Where available, we'll do our best to match you with a female driving instructor.

That's entirely up to you. For some people it doesn't matter, while others may feel more comfortable learning with a female driving instructor.

We believe a positive learning experience depends on finding an instructor who's right for you. AA driving instructors are trained to be professional, patient and supportive, so you can learn at a pace that suits you.
