An imposing Victorian residence built in 1870 for John Smith, a famous tea clipper captain. Set on the Western side of the picturesque town of Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife. Only a short walk to the harbour, town centre and excellent restaurants. A very comfortable and relaxing residents lounge on the ground floor or a small private reading room which is situated on the first floor, or for businessmen wanting to work in privacy. An impressive, honesty bar for guests which include a range of over 25 whiskies, local and Scottish beers and an excellent wine list carefully prepared by Mark who is by trade a very experienced wine-maker. The eight bedrooms have en-suite facilities and are decorated to a notable high standard. A unique feature of the house is the Captains’ Cabin on the top floor. This was the domain of the original owner of the house, a tea clipper captain called John Smith, who transformed the room into an exact replica of a Ship Master's Cabin. Its small east facing window looks towards Anstruther harbour where he could see the fishing fleet.
