This trendy contemporary package comprises a cocktail bar, restaurant and 1940s-themed tea shop. Bare wooden tables, leather chairs and piano music drifting in from the bar set the scene, and you can expect traditional British cooking that delivers plenty of big flavours. Things start with a full-bore duo of pan-seared scallops and crispy pig's cheek balanced by tart apple purée, a soy and chicken reduction, and Waldorf salad. Next up, venison haunch steak is marinated with blackberry and juniper, pan-seared and served up with a crisp venison-packed filo 'cigar', parsley root purée, spring veg and a cracking Pontefract liquorice sauce. Dessert is a zingy lemon tart and posset with raspberries.
