A peaceful atmosphere reigns throughout the Priory, including in the Garden Room restaurant, which offers soft lighting and a comforting feeling of being looked after by endlessly helpful staff. The kitchen produces dishes that pull in inspiration from all over the known world, starting with spicy rabbit rissole dressed in Marsala. That might be the forerunner of duck breast in an east Asian mood, marinated in soy, mirin and yuzu, and bedded on soba noodles with pak choi in coriander and chilli broth. A dessert composition involving popcorn crumbs and caramel gel has a rather over-set tonka-bean pannacotta: try orange and almond tart with clotted cream instead.
