Hotel du Vin always chooses impressive buildings, and the Henley branch is no exception: a Thames-side Georgian property that was the HQ of Brakspears brewery. Bistro classics plus a few less standard dishes are what to expect, as at the other branches, all cooked just as they should be. Perfectly steamed moules marinière or chicken liver parfait with raisin chutney and sourdough bread get things off to a promising start before steak frites, sole meunière with caper and brown shrimp beurre noisette or Toulouse sausage and mash. Treacle tart may not be particularly French but it makes a good conclusion, and there's always perennial crème brûlée.
