The cheery Italian enoteca in a Dickensian Spitalfields' alley is a hang-loose setting for inspired classic Italian home cooking. Antipasti sharing platters of salamis and/or cheeses are obvious ways to pique the appetite. Clipboard menus then turn up with a rustic rabbit stew, slow-cooked on the bone with white wine and olives, or king prawns in salsa verde batter and tartar sauce. Follow with hearty mains such as chargrilled veal chop with rosemary-spiked potatoes, or sturdy pasta dishes including tortelloni stuffed with wild boar and slathered with sage butter and parmesan. Finish with a classic pannacotta with tangy summer berry coulis.
