A Southwark honeypot for a millennium, Borough Market is today a big tourist attraction. Roast occupies the ornate Floral Hall, transported from the old Covent Garden and, with views of the market, St Paul's Cathedral and The Shard, it's a splendid location. Taking nationwide inspiration, the menu kicks off with parsnip, potato and apple soup with Ticklemore goats' cheese and local Bermondsey Street honey. Next, a nicely rolled and stuffed, slow-roasted Wick's Manor (from Maldon, Essex) pork belly with crackling, mashed potato and Bramley apple sauce. For dessert, try soft-centred chocolate pudding with sea-salted caramel ice cream. In true market fashion, it's open for breakfast.
