Cantonese cooking and cool decor in Chinatown

Plum Valley stands out on Gerrard Street with its sleek black frontage and inside it has a dark, minimalist contemporary gloss. Service is brisk but friendly. The mainstay of the menu is classic Cantonese stuff, with plenty of familiar old favourites and some perky modern ideas, too. Dim sum such as translucent prawn and chive dumplings and pillowy steamed buns filled with spicy barbecued pork are as moresome as you might hope. There's a decent choice of veggie options and main courses such as sha cha seafood claypot offering a colourful medley of prawns, scallops, squid and black cod, or Vietnamese-style pork belly with lemongrass, shallots and pomelo leaves.
