Gallic cooking in a classically converted warehouse

The popularity of this classic cross-Channel country auberge-style venue remains undiminished. Bare-brick walls, French posters and candlelit tables set the tone in the rustic-chic converted Victorian warehouse. Food-wise, expect unreconstructed French provincial dishes on an ever-changing carte backed up by daily specials – honest, peasant cooking built on fresh, well-sourced materials. Start with grilled mackerel with caponata and pesto, followed by guinea fowl supreme with soft polenta, kale and red wine jus, or two might share a leg of Lozère lamb with wild mushrooms, dauphinoise potatoes and Madeira sauce. Finish with chocolate fondant and salted caramel ice cream, or well-ripened French cheeses.
