The address in fashionable Marylebone has been a destination dining venue for many years, but it's as the 'Other' branch of Charlotte Street's Pied-à-Terre that it has attained its glitziest reputation. In an ambience of minimal chic, with rosewood tables and white walls, Asimakis Chaniotis produces the signature modern cuisine with which successive chefs have kept the place in the forefront of London dining. It's ingredient-led cooking par excellence, where every component of a dish earns its place on the plate. First up could be breast and leg of smoked quail with Iberico tomatoes and calçot onions, a smartly on-trend lineup of flavours, or there might be a daring tartare of red prawns along with morels and other mushrooms pickled in Sauternes. Cod cheeks in prosciutto with asparagus, peas and mint see in the spring season with stylish panache, or there may be various cuts of suckling pig with leeks and heritage carrots, scented with star-anise. Bold, assertive seasonings continue to desserts, which might feature chilli-spiked Guanaja chocolate feuilletine with Manjari chocolate sorbet, or truffled tarte Tatin made with Chantecler apples, served with tonka bean ice cream. Splash out on chef's signature dish, and be regaled with smoked poached sturgeon garnished with imperial oscietra, accompanied by Grey Goose French vodka.
