The hotel is very much a part of this small community, with Gaelic spoken and regular ceilidh nights, while the owners also run a small distillery and art gallery next door. The restaurant has tables dressed in white linen and flickering candles, while the culinary output is rather more contemporary than you might imagine. Start with a savoury pannacotta (goats' cheese, garlic and chive) with beetroot purée and pickled carrots, before moving on to oven-roasted loin of estate venison with mini fondant potato, sautéed kale and a glossy red wine sauce. Finish with a dark chocolate sphere with white chocolate and honey ganache, Cointreau mousse, raspberry jelly and honeycomb crumble.
