Anyone with foodie inclinations should visit the white-painted 17th-century Sun Inn, a proper pub with oak beams, log fires and real ales in the convivial bar, and a smart contemporary dining room. Reliable hands in the kitchen conjure up full-flavoured dishes using the best local ingredients. Start with suckling pig pointed up with blood orange gel, caramelised red chicory, deep-fried black pudding and crispy crackling, followed by a bouillabaisse-style fish stew of gurnard, squid, home-smoked mussels and fennel, all topped with croûtons and a punchy red pepper rouille. To finish, a chocolate and mint-themed workout delivers a diverting array of textures including mousse, gel, foam and chocolate Genoise cake.
