Part of the boutique-style Twelve Hotel, The Pins is an unusual amalgam of bar, bakery, bistro and pizzeria, the latter being authentic Neapolitan-style thin and crispy pizzas made in a Vesuvian stone oven. There's also a modern gastro pub menu of championing regional suppliers. Start with something like a terrine of pork belly, pistachio and black pudding with pear compôte, followed by pan-seared hake with gratinated oyster, fondant potato, creamed leeks and prawn bisque, or slow-braised lamb shank with coriander couscous, grilled vegetables, apricot purée and toasted almonds. Dessert might be bread-and-butter pudding with caramel sauce. For more ambitious contemporary cooking, trade up to the Upstairs@West Restaurant.
