When the ingredients are either foraged or fresh from Falmouth harbour, you're off to a flying start at this relaxed and unassuming high-street venue run by a husband-and-wife team. The kitchen cuts no corners, making everything from scratch, starting with super-fresh, crispy-skinned mackerel with a vibrant salad and crème fraîche and chive dressing, then chicken escalope with roast tomatoes, wild asparagus and bacon and pomegranate molasses dressing. A well-made lemon tart with fresh raspberries, raspberry purée and lemon sorbet provides a zesty finish. The place is booked well in advance, showing it has a loyal local fan base.
