This atmospheric pub was once a mill; workers reputedly passed beverages out through front windows to passing carriages. Today ramblers and cyclists exploring Wiltshire’s charms are frequent visitors; the inn is situated on the official county cycle route. A large fireplace burns wood all winter in the bar, warming a wealth of old beams, flagstones and oak flooring. The pub is worth seeking out for its interesting modern British pub food and memorable outdoor dining.
