A warm welcome is guaranteed at this bustling 19th-century pub, tucked away in the delightful Wylye Valley. Plenty of original features are still in evidence such as the striking central fireplace and flagstone and oak floors. Bar snacks are served as well as an appealing à la carte menu featuring well-made and hearty pub classics. Typical starters include cayenne dusted whitebait with homemade aioli and fresh lemon; and mussels in creamy white wine and garlic sauce. These might be followed by rolled pork belly stuffed with garlic, thyme and sage, served on Pommery mustard mash and purple sprouting broccoli. Fish and chips, and the famous Dove burger and chips are available to take away, traditionally wrapped in newspaper. The garden is the perfect spot for barbecues or a drink on summer days.
