In the National Park, with a garden right next to the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal, and an ever-changing choice of real ales – over 500 guests a year – Ian and Anna Bell’s village pub is extremely popular, and even that could be an understatement. Beer festivals pull in even more fans in mid-June and mid-October. But, of course, there’s food too, in the shape of local venison faggots with creamed mash and winter greens; fresh beer battered fish and chips; and roast pumpkin and squash gnocchi. Under-12s have their own selection and the under-2s eat for free.
