Traditional food in peaceful family-run village pub

At a glance

Bar menu
Beer festival
Open all year

The Greenwell family took over this 18th-century village pub near Hadrian's Wall a few years ago, and it’s very much a family business with David and Elwyn helped by their son and two daughters. Visitors can enjoy the open-hearth fire, the sunny beer garden, or simply sit out front soaking up life in this peaceful village. Among the choice of ales, local Wylam Gold Tankard is always available, with guest beers available every week. Mainly locally sourced dishes, including haggis and black pudding with peppercorn sauce; and home-made steak and ale pie typify the traditional food. Quiz nights take place on the last Wednesday of the month and there’s a popular key draw and supper every Sunday night.
