Bought by three ambitious co-owners over ten years ago, this 17th-century country inn on the edge of a lovely village has been transformed into a thriving local and celebration of all things Norfolk, both on the plate and in the glass. The lovely tranquil setting at the fringe of the village allows for a peaceful garden, whilst locals barter their fresh fruit and vegetables over the bar for a pint or two, practise darts or bar billiards and quaff the Old Spot bitter brewed by local Wolf Brewery – what else. An impressively versatile menu emerges from the kitchen, utilising forgotten cuts of locally sourced meat and produce from the pub’s adjoining allotment. If it’s genuine ‘nose to tail’ dining you’re looking for, you won't be disappointed by Piggy Pieces, which includes sausage, bacon, black pudding, potted pork, beans and ribs and can be served for 1 or up to 4 people. Leave room for one of the tempting desserts, perhaps dark chocolate torte, brandy snap, vanilla ice cream. The children’s indoor playroom and outdoor Piggleplay play area both prove very popular.
