Good locally-sourced food on the Wirral Peninsula

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year

In the heart of Heswall, on the spectacular Wirral Peninsula with its views towards Liverpool and north Wales, ‘The Jug’ (as the locals call it) is tucked away off the main road but convenient for the M56. With two open fires and surrounded by gardens, this traditional country pub offers a warm welcome all year round, serving good food in the dining room and a range of real ales including local Brimstage Trapper's Hat. Locally-sourced food is served lunchtimes and evenings, typical choices being fisherman’s pie with spring greens; and braised oxtail suet pudding with horseradish mash and ale gravy.
