Down a quiet cul-de-sac just off the long distance walking path, The Viking Way, is Paul Vidic's friendly dining pub. There are three elegant yet informal dining areas and Paul is passionate about the food he creates, and his accomplished menu offers starters such as duck rillettes with sticky fig chutney and rustic toast, and beer-battered tiger prawns with a Thai-spiced sweet chilli sauce; and typical mains of panache of halibut, turbot and John Dory; roast rack of lamb; and pasta with leeks and creamed wild mushrooms. Among some reassuringly familiar desserts are warm Bakewell tart with Amaretto and cherry ice cream; and sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce.
