If your travels take you to Skye, then you just have to visit the Waternish peninsula and the island’s oldest inn. Slap-bang in front of it, across a grassy foreshore, are the beautiful waters of Loch Bay. The wood-panelled bar stocks 125 malts and Scottish cask ales on tap, including at times, some from the Isle of Skye Brewery. Daily-changing menus take full advantage of the abundant fresh fish and shellfish, and Highland lamb, venison and beef. Choices include Highland venison casserole with a hint of chocolate; pork loin steak with award-winning black pudding and freshly-made apple sauce; and stuffed aubergine au gratin. The inn offers a very popular, daily-changing crumble which makes an excellent way to finish a meal.
