At the fringe of loch-speckled Galloway Forest and beautiful Glen Trool, this contemporary, homely little hotel makes the most of its setting in Europe’s first ‘Dark Sky’ Park. The House O’Hill attracts cyclists and ramblers on the Southern Upland Way by offering an exceptional combination of local microbrewery beers such as Sulwath and a wide-ranging menu strong on Galloway produce. Local saddle of venison with potato rösti, confit vegetables, chocolate and red wine sauce; or falafel burger with melted cheddar, onion ring and salsa are just two of the dishes on the hit list. There are themed world-food evenings and beer festivals occur in April and September.
