Pint of beer on a bar

The Square and Compass

At a glance

Beer festival
Microbrewed ales
Open all year

Beers and ciders from the pub's own microbrewery come straight from the barrel here and food is limited to just pasties and pies. Little has changed at this stone-built pub for the past century, during which time it has been run by the same family. It is tucked-away and boasts a simple interior with no bar, just a serving hatch and an abundance of flagstone floors, oak panels and a museum of local artefacts and fossils from the nearby Jurassic Coast. On the first Saturday in October there’s a beer and pumpkin festival, and in early November there's a cider festival. Enjoy the live music events throughout the year.
