Thatched flint-stone pub serving good food

Popular with villagers as much as visiting fishermen, cycling clubs and ramblers, this handsome, thatched flint-stone free house is ideally situated for riverside walks. Flagstone floors, a wood-burning stove and solid oak beams create a comfortable setting for a traditional English inn that offers a friendly welcome, a range of well-kept real ales and simple, carefully cooked food. Menu choices include crab, salmon, chilli and ginger fishcakes; sharing platters for two; chicken, wild mushroom and pancetta risotto; and Roquefort salad with poached pear, walnuts and chicory. There's also a deli counter and a selection of baguettes and jackets.
