23 December 2010AA Credit Card can help ease New Year fuel price pain

The cost of petrol and diesel fuel has reached a record high, with petrol costing on average 15.32p and diesel 17.79p per litre more than in December last year, before the January price rises according to AA Financial Services. The New Year sees a further leap with the cost of a litre of unleaded petrol rising by a further 3.5p with increases in both fuel duty and VAT from 4 January.

21 December 2010Act now to avoid VAT rise

Early Christmas sales at major retailers brought on by the freezing weather coupled with the VAT rise on 4 January makes the pre-New Year period the perfect time to buy, according to AA Financial Services. Pessimistic reports from many retailers coupled with the wintry weather suggest that retail sales are down compared with last year. As a result there are some real bargains on the High Street.

20 December 2010Car insurance claim volume doubles in recent snow and ice

Coinciding with the busiest day ever for the AA's roadside breakdown service, AA Insurance experienced one of its busiest days on Monday (20 December) as snow and ice lead to a 100% increase in car insurance claims, compared with a normal December Monday.

17 December 2010December fuel price update - bleak mid-winter gets bleaker as prices continue to rise

Petrol prices that reached a record high last week continue to rise further, now averaging 122.14p a litre, the latest AA Fuel Price Report reveals. For the first time in 21 months, Scotland has become one of the most expensive regions in the UK for diesel - following last week's snow chaos.

16 December 2010Christmas travel plans and advice - busiest day expected to be Thursday 23 December

Drivers should plan ahead and be prepared to adapt their Christmas travel plans at short notice as widespread freezing temperatures, snow and ice are likely to disrupt the start of the festive getaway. Overall, the AA is expecting around 18 million cars to be on the roads during the Christmas getaway.

16 December 201044% of drivers have done nothing to prepare for severe conditions on the roads this winter

As the UK braces itself for the return of heavy snow in the next 48 hours, the AA asks whether drivers are prepared. 44% of drivers have done nothing to prepare for the winter weather.

14 December 2010Free android and iphone app from the AA helps us pinpoint your location when you breakdown

The AA has launched its latest free app, 'The AA' that will allow us to find AA members wherever they have broken down. Up to 27,000 extra driving tests have been failed in the last year by learners taught by trainee instructors - while most pupils did not even know their instructor was learning on the job, AA investigations reveal.

10 December 2010Average UK petrol prices have today reached a new record high

Average UK petrol prices have hit a new record high. The latest price (from yesterday's fuel receipts) is 121.76p/litre. The previous record high was 121.61p/litre set on 12 May 2010.

9 December 2010AA may have been targeted as result of campaign to outlaw cowboy clampers

8 December 201023% jump in car insurance claims as a result of snow and ice

The current icy spell has led to a 23% jump in car insurance claims as cars slip and slide into other vehicles, kerbs, barriers, police cars and even a wild boar.

6 December 2010Treacherous road conditions continue as temperatures remain very low in many areas

The AA is warning of treacherous road conditions continuing as temperatures remain very low in many areas with Scotland being particularly badly affected by further snow.
