I see a 2011 BMW on the AA site for sale. AA is flagging up a 5000 mile discrepancy on the odometer going by a BVRLA figure. The HPI office will not confirm anything as i have not paid anything. The dealer has not come back to me when i raised a query. What is your view?

How do I verify mileage when there appears to be a discrepancy?
A dealer must take all reasonable steps to establish the accuracy of the indicated mileage and unless the dealer is satisfied that the mileage on the odometer is accurate they should not quote it in adverts, discussions or negotiations.
The dealer should also be able to tell you what checks he has done and what he has found out, including any paper service records or repair bills for corroboration.
