Fuel prize draw terms and conditions
The Prize
1.1. You could win a Shell fuel card to the total value of £2,000 in this prize draw (the “Prize”). £1,000 will be available on the fuel card from 1 August to 31 December 2022 and a further £1,000 available on the fuel card from 1 January to 31 July 2023. Free fuel valuation of £2,000 based on average weekly household litres of petrol, diesel, and other motor oils that were purchased in the UK in 2020 (Statista Motor fuels household spend) and average fuel prices in April 2022 (AA Fuel Price Report).
1.2. Only three Prizes are available in total, one for each of the prize draw periods identified in clause 4 below.
1.3.Failure to use the total £2,000 balance on the Shell fuel card by 31 July 2023 will lead to the winner having no further entitlement to the Prize. Any remaining balance (if any) shall be deemed expired and cannot be used by winner.
1.4.Each Shell fuel card will be a single-network card which gives the winner access to over 1,000 participating Shell fuel stations in Great Britain. Visit Shell fuel card station locator | Shell United Kingdom for details (excludes partner sites).
1.5. Prizes are subject to availability.
Promoter's name & address
2.1. The promoter of the prize draw is Automobile Association Development Limited of address Fanum House, Basing View, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21, 4EA (“the AA”).
How to participate in the prize draw
3.1. In order to enter this prize draw you must purchase a new AA membership (with At Home, National Recovery, Onward Travel or Parts and Garage Cover included as part of your breakdown cover) directly from the AA and you will automatically be entered into the prize draw. This prize draw doesn’t apply when only Roadside Assistance is purchased.
3.2. All entries must include name, home address, and telephone number.
3.3. You may enter this prize draw a maximum of one time.
3.4. By entering this prize draw you accept these terms and conditions. To opt out of this prize draw, the account holder must email [email protected] with the subject line, ‘Opt out of free fuel prize draw’ and include within this email, your name as it appears on your breakdown policy along with membership number

Prize draw A starts 5 July 2022 and ends 7 July 2022
Prize draw B starts 8 July 2022 and ends 14 July 2022
Prize draw C starts 15 July 2022 and ends 19 July 2022
Eligibility
5.1. Each prize draw is only open to residents of the England, Wales and Scotland who are aged 17 and over who remain active AA members until the Prize is sent out.
5.2 Each winner must have an active AA Membership 14 days after the purchase of the eligible products identified in clause 3.1 of these terms.
5.3. The following are not eligible to enter or win this prize draw:
5.3.1. employees of the AA or its holding subsidiary companies;
5.3.2. employees of agents or suppliers of the AA or its holding companies, who are professionally connected with the prize draw or its administration;
5.3.3. residents of Northern Ireland;
5.3.4. members of the immediate families of those identified in 5.2.1, 5.2.2 and 5.2.3 above; and
5.3.5. policies purchased via AA Warranties, AA Loans, AA Driving School or via an AA partner (excluding Network Digital);
5.4. By entering the prize draw, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the Prize. The AA may require you to provide proof.
5.5. Entries not in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be counted and will be excluded.
Selection of the winner
6.1. The winner will be selected at random from all the eligible entries received.
6.2. This will be done by a randomly generated selection process.
6.3. The winner will be notified by phone (using the details provided at entry) 14 days following the closure of the relevant prize draw period to inform them of their Prize.
6.4. The Prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
6.5. The Prize can only be used by the winner.
6.6. The AA does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to claim the Prize.
6.7. The AA accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed or submitted due to a technical fault (such as a technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure) of any kind and/or where applicable. If for any reason a technical interruption, fault or site failure occurs when purchasing online, the AA does not take any responsibility for incomplete purchases and any incomplete purchases will not be considered valid for entry into the prize draw. Where applicable the AA accepts no responsibility for any purchases which are not completed for any reason.
6.8. Prizes will be sent within 30 days following the relevant End Date by Royal Mail 1st class. The AA is not responsible for Prizes not received.
6.9. The Prize is awarded conditionally upon acceptance and if a winner is unable to be contacted after 5 days of the AA attempting to notify the winner under clause 6.3 above or if any prize is unclaimed / declined within 10 days after being notified under clause 6.3 above the Prize shall be deemed as unclaimed or unaccepted and a supplementary winner may be drawn at the AA’s discretion.
6.10. The AA retains the right to substitute the Prize with another prize of similar value in the event the original prize offered is not available.
6.11. The AA retains the right to cancel the fuel card at any time if it is deemed that any misuse or misconduct has taken place. The decision of the AA is final.
6.12. The Prize is not negotiable, exchangeable or transferable for any other product or service or a cash alternative.
6.13. The decision of the AA is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome.
Limitation of liability
7.1. In so far as is permitted by law, the AA its agent or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
7.2. Under no circumstances will the AA’s aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising under these terms and conditions and/or the prize draw which do not fall within clause 7.1 above exceed £200.00.
Data protection & publicity
8.1. The winner may be asked to take part in future publicity.
8.2. The AA will use your personal data for the purpose of the management of the prize draw, including to assess your eligibility for the prize draw and to administer the prize draw. Please see the AA’s full Privacy Notice at: https://www.theaa.com/privacy-notice for more information.
8.3. The AA must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. We are required to make the forename, surname and the country of the winner available upon request.
8.4. If you object to any or all of your surname, country and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the AA at [email protected]. In such circumstances, the AA must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
General
9.1. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the AA may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the prize draw.
9.2. The AA reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel or amend the prize draw where it has become necessary to do so for any reason.
9.3. These terms and conditions constitutes the entire agreement between you and the AA and supersedes and extinguishes all previous agreements, promises, assurances, warranties, representations and understandings between us, whether written or oral, relating to its subject matter.
9.4.These terms and conditions (and any issues or disputes arising) shall be governed by English Law, and the AA and entrants to the prize draw submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
9.5. Shell plc are not a sponsor of this promotion.
