MPG Marathon

The MPG Marathon, the UK’s only national fuel economy event, this year featured for the first time a separate class for hybrid vehicles, which was won by the official AA DriveTech entry, crewed by experienced hyper-milers Steve Johnson and Steve Heywood. They were driving a Toyota Prius T Spirit loaned by Toyota UK.

Starting and finishing at the Cotswold Water Park near Cirencester last week, the two day event covered some 350 miles over all types of roads and attracted some 37 entries, comprising both cars and vans, from 19 different manufacturers.

AA DriveTech is the commercial training arm of the AA and has recently introduced a driving course specifically aimed at business drivers who have opted for hybrid or electric-powered vehicles, enabling them to get the very best out of their vehicles while at the same time minimising the chances of becoming involved in an on-road incident.
