The Bricklayers is a cheery Georgian pub with a cosy atmosphere, rustic oak beams, log fire and brick bar, with tables in the garden and on the terrace. Food is a serious commitment, the kitchen sourcing locally and seasonally, supplementing the main menus with daily fish and vegetarian specials. 'English and French fusion' is the self-described style, so expect to find home-smoked fish with tomato chutney alongside tiger prawns and cockles flambéed in Pernod among starters. For main, there could be partridge breasts with lovage and courgettes in chestnut jus, and puddings may run to spiced rum cheesecake with caramelised orange.
