This Georgian inn is an entirely pleasing place, with hanging baskets adorning the white façade, and views of river traffic on the Severn. Lively ideas start with king prawns dressed in crisp vodka-and-tonic-infused batter and spiked with sautéed shallots, chilli, garlic-smoked salt and sweet chilli and lime dipping sauce. They continue in a main-course assiette of pork that features roast loin, slow-roasted belly, pulled pork croquettes flavoured with sage and apple, and home-made black pudding served with onion and thyme purée, mustard mash, warm slaw and a red wine reduction. To finish, 'Pimm's Mess' is a mash-up of meringue, cream, Pimm's syrup, strawberries, mint and cucumber sorbet.
