The Malvern, the first spa resort in the town, opened in 1910. Its brasserie is a fresh-looking space of neutral tones, wooden tables and a tiled floor. The menu follows a bright and breezy format, and you might start with Indian flavours of pan-fried scallops on squash purée with an onion bhaji, coriander cress and curry oil, or Scotch egg with bacon jam and black pudding crumble. Main courses are just as varied: try sea bass fillets with lemongrass risotto, crab wontons and pak choi, or rump steak with peppercorn sauce. End with pear frangipane tart with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
