The Malmaison group's Leeds branch is decorated and furnished to a high standard after refurbishment and the brasserie is no exception, with plush leather booths and open fireplaces under its elegant ceiling. The cooking is built on quality ingredients, and talented professionals are clearly at work. So chicken liver parfait, rich and flavoursome, with figs might be followed by properly timed sea bass fillet with sautéed chorizo, black olives, mussel vinaigrette and new potatoes. Influences have been gathered from around the globe to add to the broad appeal, so veal bolognese with rigatoni might appear next to another main course of chicken tikka masala. End with a classic vanilla crème brûlée.
