This place brings a touch of metropolitan chic to Huddersfield. The menu bursts with bright, modern ideas such as crab and lobster mousse wrapped in nori with ginger, lime and coriander dressing to start. Main courses are no less original: fillet of sea bass, timed to the second, is served on a ginger-spiked compôte of rhubarb and white crabmeat with saffron potatoes and wilted lettuce, and duck breast on roast beetroot with blackberries, fondant potato and celeriac purée. Puddings are attractively presented, among them raspberry millefeuille on a base of lemon cake and cream topped with white chocolate, and chocolate cup filled with cherry compôte with brandy sabayon.
