A family-run country-house hotel set in parkland, Moor Hall's panelled Oak Room restaurant has a real sense of grandeur and lovely views over the grounds, including the golf course. Contemporary British cooking from a young kitchen team emphasises quality ingredients, on show in starters such as seared scallops with smoked cauliflower purée and black pudding crumb, or ham hock terrine with piccalilli, charred cucumber and crispy pig's ear. Mains might include saddle of rabbit with vanilla and celeriac purée and potato terrine, or wild mushroom, ale and salsify pie with truffle mash. Treacle tart is a traditional finish.
