Opus has bags of big-city attitude and a cosmopolitan vibe that suits its location in the city's financial quarter. Inside it's a stylish setting: darkwood floors, linen-clothed tables and jazzy wallpapers. Top-quality British produce anchors the whole operation. From the great-value market menu, a rich ballotine of chicken and wild mushrooms is offset by the summery lightness of broad bean and artichoke salad with watercress dressing, while roasted cod is partnered by crushed blue potatoes, and a spicy purée and crunchy tempura of cauliflower. If you're after something meaty, the carte might offer cottage pie poshed up with Wagyu beef and partnered by crushed root vegetables and spring greens.
