A little Midlands village is the setting for Hogarths, a picturesque location that also manages to be handy for the NEC and the airport. Fresh Mediterranean-influenced brasserie food is the bill of fare, with quality produce in simple preparations. A fig, walnut and blue cheese tart dressed in balsamic reduction packs a good flavour to begin with, as does treacle- and gin-cured salmon with sour cream and soda bread. The Inka charcoal grill works its magic for rib-eye steaks that come with the full set of onion rings, mushrooms and triple-cooked chips, or there's Spanish-themed hake on chorizo and saffron cassoulet. Try a citrussy take on baked Alaska to finish.
