Enterprising modern cooking opposite the theatre

AA Inspector

Just across the river from the theatres of the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Arden's contemporary brasserie dining room offers a champagne bar and enterprising modern cooking from a skilled team. Alscot Farm venison carpaccio with pickled girolle, red-wine-poached salsify and goats' cheese curd makes a stylish starter, while mains might offer a beautifully-presented and well balanced steamed cod pavé, wrapped in a banana leaf, with coconut lentil dhal, saffron pilau rice and south Indian-style green beans. The dark chocolate pavé with a deconstructed garnish of griottine cherries, cherry sorbet and Chantilly cream is a fashionable twist on a classic.
