Set in the fashionable quayside area, Vujon has long been the smart place to go for new-wave Indian cuisine. A stylish contemporary-looking dining room and switched-on service are the backdrop to a creative mix of classic and up-to-date Indian dishes. Spicing is expert and can be delicate, particularly in a main course of seven-spiced Barbary duck breast marinated overnight in a clove-scented oven, served with sweet-sour apricot chutney, while the starter might be grilled scallops with peppercorns, fennel seed and star anise alongside orange and grape salad. Super-sweet gulab jamun dumplings soaked in saffron syrup, served with vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate sauce, make an interesting finale.
