Over seven acres of gardens surround the Parkway, making for a relaxing ambience indeed, at the heart of which Ravellos Restaurant has undergone a refurbishment. Large geometric modern artworks break up the white-walled space, with a fountain feature centre-stage and the carvery retained from the previous incarnation. Sensibly balanced modern menus are composed of inventive dishes like scorched mackerel with soused fennel, broad bean purée and horseradish pannacotta, prior to accurately timed venison with sweet and smoky accompaniments of charred beetroot and sweet potato fondant in bitter chocolate jus. A classic egg custard tart is served with moreish nutmeg ice cream and vanilla-poached raisins.
