It has been said that Gerry and Ann Price’s renowned village pub out-manoeuvres many a competitor; the kitchen brigade make great use of fish from the coast and game from Windsor Great Park, or shot by Gerry himself. The modern interior is open plan with wooden floors, an open fire and a calm grey-blue colour palette. Everything on the menu is home made. A seasonal menu might reveal a starter dish of potted Windsor Estate rabbit, tarragon jelly, pickles and grilled sourdough, or crispy salt and pepper squid with harissa aioli. Then for a main course, perhaps loin of roe deer, confit new potatoes, sprouting broccoli, pickled raspberries and red wine jus. A mini chocolate brownie, honeycomb and clotted cream makes a grand end to a memorable meal.
