Modern brasserie dining on the seafront

Sitting in beachfront splendour by the shingle banks of Aldeburgh's strand, The White Lion deals in unpretentious brasserie dining, built on fine Suffolk ingredients - in fact, sourcing doesn't get more local than the fish landed a few steps away on the beach. If you can resist the temptations of haddock in Adnams beer-batter with chips and chunky tartare sauce, Cajun-spiced chicken breast with celeriac remoulade and sun-dried tomatoes is a fine main course. Bookending this are tempura king prawns with guacamole, mango and chilli dressing to start, and a moresome finale of flourless dark chocolate torte with popcorn praline and honeycomb ice cream.
