17th-century Trossachs farmhouse with good food

The views alone make a visit to this 17th-century farmhouse worthwhile. Gordon and Cherry Gunn have been welcoming guests to 17th-century Creagan House for 30 years. Gordon does all the cooking himself. Dinner is served in the grandly vaulted baronial-style dining room. The short contemporary menu makes the most of the fantastic local ingredients. Start with breast of new-season grouse on bacon and mushroom skirlie with redcurrant sauce, before taking in a main-course collop of local venison saddle, venison pie, Worcester berry and cassis sauce. Desserts are home-made, or go for the selection of well-kept Scottish cheeses.
