One of only two hotels on the island, the family-owned Stocks is a tranquil bolthole with a comfortable country-house style. With its opulent drapes and white tablecloths, the panelled dining room provides a traditional and formal setting for the technically solid cooking that plays to the gallery. The kitchen has close links with local fishermen and farms so the menu is ingredient driven. Hand-dived sautéed Sark scallops turn up with pea purée and cauliflower florets, followed perhaps by a ballotine of corn-fed chicken teamed with sautéed mushrooms, pommes purée and chicken jus. Finish with warm chocolate soufflé and coffee ice cream.
