Fine Scottish produce and a friendly welcome

Wines by the glass

This charming restaurant is full of Jacobean charm, with dark oak panels, a spiral staircase, wooden floors and a candle-filled fireplace. Staff are friendly, and the menus focus on fresh Scottish produce, with a slightly more sophisticated choice of dishes available at dinner. Things might begin with Black Isle lamb sweetbreads, nicely cooked and accompanied by pickled chanterelles. A superb piece of beautifully fresh North Sea halibut, with haricot beans, enhanced with samphire and capers, is a simple but memorable dish. An interpretation of the classic cranachan, with a crisp oat tuile and oat parfait and a fine Dalwhinnie mousse, makes a pleasing finale.
