Wines by the glass

The brick-built hotel in the city centre lays claim to being the UK's oldest, having been feeding and watering East Anglian travellers for 800 years. Dining goes on in a glassed-in courtyard with a quarry-tiled floor and simple wooden tables. Expect to start with the likes of Cromer crab mousse with tomato gel, seaweed salad and avocado oil, before progressing to a Parma-wrapped breast of corn-fed chicken with bubble-and-squeak, roasted beetroot and a jus of cider and thyme, or seared sea bass on mussel and courgette risotto with buttered leeks in white wine sauce. Dessert might be a verrine of strawberries and Greek yogurt, accompanied by strawberry ice cream.
