This former pub has maintained much of its original character in the shape of exposed beams and real fireplaces, and there's a genuine charm to the place. Even though a bar remains in situ, this is very much a restaurant, and one with fine dining in mind. The kitchen's modern and creative output includes the addition of a gin and tonic jelly and warm salmon fritter to elevate oak-smoked salmon to a higher level. Main courses might include a well-executed dish of Dingley Dell pork (belly and fillet) with apple purée and black pudding, or grilled wing of skate with King's Lynn brown shrimps.
