The 10,000 acres of the Guinness estate in Norfolk are the base for a modern agricultural enterprise supplying a formidable annual tonnage of fresh produce, with a raftered farm shop at its heart. The all-day restaurant it incorporates is a bright, open space with granite tables and a weekly-changing lunch menu of sensitively cooked seasonal dishes. Marinated goats' cheese bon bons with crisp chorizo on a pea and broad bean salad is a straight-talking opener, followed by locally sourced fish served with chips, mushy peas and chunky home-made tartare sauce, or perhaps honey-grain mustard and rosemary-marinated pork rested on roast apple. Finish with a passionfruit parfait with shortbread crumb.
