Restauranteur Nisha Katona brings Indian street and domestic food to Liverpool, in a space with rough-edged Stateside appeal. High-concept recreations of popular subcontinental dishes begin with chat bombs, crisp potato shells with chickpeas, spices and yogurt garnished with pomegranate, and sublime bhel puri, a crunchy blend of split lentils, nuts and vermicelli in sweet-sour tamarind sauce. Main dishes like the slowly simmered house lamb curry showcase melting meat, marrowbone, anise, plums, coriander and chilli, garnished with threads of fresh ginger. The gulab jamun might just become your favourite version, the doughnuts drenched in syrup, accompanied by an excellent vanilla ice cream. There's a vegan menu too.
