AA Inspector

Italian chef Carlo Scotto’s deput solo venue is every bit a Marylebone ‘it place’ and performs as two separate dining areas, with XR the more casual, high-energy ground-floor space; upstairs, Xier does its 10-course tasting-menu thing. XR’s in-vogue good looks include a small cocktail bar and bi-fold doors opening onto street-side tables, while the modern European grazing-style menu delivers with precision, panache and flavour. Witness enoki mushroom truffle arancini or lamb sliders with lettuce, gruyere cheese, foie gras mayo and truffled fries, while hake, served with sauce vièrge, escalivada and beetroot jus, catches the eye too. Don’t miss the mini sourdough bread ‘loaf’ and XR dip.
